This is Why I May Part With Some Email Newsletters Subscription During This Crisis
You need to know the kind of email newsletters to send to people during crisis.
Clearly, everyone wants to make money. Some people want to make more money so that they could become richer while many need money just for sustenance — and to support themselves in every aspect of their lives.
But, don’t you think that you should slow down so that you can reflect and remember those that are losing their lives? Those that are struggling to breathe? And those that are currently going through all manner of challenges?
We appraise situations differently, and we react to it in different ways mostly because our perspectives are not alike. But this time is very different because we are facing a very unfamiliar adversary. Our lives and everything we have is being threatened daily by a merciless plague that has ravaged us pitilessly.
But surprisingly some of us have been acting like this mammoth calamity didn’t affect them in any way. They’re still sending newsletters to their subscribers like everything is still normal out there. They forget that many of their subscribers are probably dead, hospitalized or about to go broke.
If you don’t slow down, and reflect, then it means that you’re still raring to go about life the same way you’ve been going about it. And that you’re not getting the messages — and lessons that life has been sending to you since this incredible situation started. It also means that you’re selfish — and bereft of empathy because you value money more than humanity.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t process your business and earn money — far from it.
What I’m saying is that you should slow down to reflect — and to acknowledge everything that’s going on in the world today. It may not have affected you personally, but it has affected millions of people and these people are humans like you and I.
And have you noticed how disturbed and worried so many people have become especially when they remember that no one knows exactly when this will end? Ruminate on that for a moment.
Also do you even know that some of the people you’re sending newsletters to have lost their jobs and means of livelihood? Many are quickly depleting their savings and everything that they stocked up. And there’s this persistent fear of not knowing what they’ll do if this virulent disease isn’t contained soon.
I may have to unsubscribe from your newsletters because what you’re doing is annoying — and I’m not looking for ways to become wealthy. It’s not that it’d be a bad thing to become rich. It’ll be a good thing actually because I’ll have more to give out — and to support the causes I’m committed to.
But I’m not thinking of how to make a lot of money at the moment even though I don’t have it in abundance. I’m more focused on supporting myself, those that are close to me — and everyone during this extremely difficult time. And I believe that’s what everyone should be doing.
The zillions of dollars we amassed couldn’t help us to stop a cunning killer virus from chasing us away from our very busy streets. So why should money be the main focus of some of us now that we still don’t know what next?
Think about every health worker out there. And put yourself in their shoes. Some of them can’t recognize themselves in the mirror anymore owing to the seemingly endless task of saving lives which has overwhelmed them. They neither sleep well nor eat well. This crisis has messed up their lives both physically and mentally. Nevertheless, they still have to do their jobs with utmost dedication and love.
These tireless people that we have demanded a lot from equally need money, but do you think they’re thinking of how to make money these days? They don’t because it’s not their priority.
Their priority now is to save lives — and to return life to humanity, so that humans can start to live again. That should also be your priority.
My suggestion
Take some time to show some compassion to others. And from this experience fashion out a new way to go about your businesses by acknowledging that humans matter to each other — and that a tough challenge such as this one can only be effectively handled through a collective approach.
Send newsletters that resonates with the current situation and simultaneously discuses any updates in your products and services. A once in a week or twice a week email will be ideal. With this method, your followers will feel the humanity in you from a distance. And the connection between you and them will improve because this will demonstrate that you care about their well being.
And that you’re not taking advantage of their predicaments to become richer. They’ll understand that you have through your newsletters acknowledged the current situation and that you’re truly in this crisis together with them.
You can also through this approach devise an appropriate product or services to offer to your followers. Products or services that could generate income for you — and at the same time demonstrate to your followers that you now handle your businesses in a different way because you’re learning from this crisis. And this could have a domino effect on us — and then engender others to begin to restructure their businesses.
In conclusion
There are quite a lot to glean from this unforgettable crisis that has buffeted us all round. It is going to change you. It’s going to change how you and I approach certain things in life. Thus everyone must try to be selfless so that we can learn from this situation the lessons that’ll benefit us in ways that we cannot tell.
Also you might miss an important lesson from this crisis if you deliberately refuse to go through this with the rest of us. Therefore slow down and focus on taking care of yourself and supporting humanity in any way you can in this trying time.
Stay safe
